The Story of Basilius Zecharoff

Basilius Zecharoff was a Russian who fled to Great Britain in the early 1870s. He met and married Emily Burrows, daughter of a Bristol-based businessman. The couple were married in Paris but quickly returned back to England where they got into legal trouble. On the marriage register, he listed his name as Zacharias Gortzakov, which was a reference to Prince Michael Gortzkov of Russia. But Teresa is going to tell you what happened next.
