The History of Toxicology

Toxicology has existed for thousands of years before the Egyptian hieroglyphs that warned of poisons and before Socrates' death by Hamlock. But toxicology had its official start on the books in the 1500s with Swiss-born physician and alchemist Paracelsis, whose first name was Philippus Arolius theophrastus Bumbastus von Hohenheim. In the 1960s, it's really spearheaded the EPA in the formation of some of the occupational safety groups in the US.
