The Importance of Political Parties in Our Democracy
Don't get sucked into the entreaties of places like Singapore, where they can plan for the long run. I think it is probably the case that our electoral system has some unfortunate consequences because it empowers parties so much but also doesn't empower those parties for anything longer than the electoral term. We need a way to prevent ourselves from just spiraling around between different options.
