Kant has an enormous amount of his own technical terminology. He distorts words in order to get that beautiful structure to his thought. His views on aesthetics are embedded in his larger philosophy. They're not incomprehensible entirely without knowledge of his larger philosophy, more general views on epistemology, metaphysics and philosophy of mind.
