There is evidence that some of our understanding about dementia and what causes Alzheimer's disease specifically, is not quite what we think it is. The bacteria that causes gum disease somehow gets into your brain which kicks off the process in some people but not in others. And there is seem to be a link between gum disease and Alzheimer's disease, and the bacteria that causes certainly one and might be involved in the other. Marty Jobson has been my guest on this week's One Show. He is the resident science reporter on BBC One's The One Show. Here he explains why counting is very important in life.
