Consciousness Has Human Experience
I would suggest that there is no increase or decrease in consciousnesst. The content of consciousness tells us nothing about the nature of consciousness. It is not we as a person, or indeed any other animal or creature, that has consciousnessitis. Only awareness is aware. In other words, only consciousness has any knowledge about itself.
