The Context of Data Modeling

The recent crop of analytics engineers, especially through using a lot of DBT, which is a wonderful tool for data transformations. But what I'm noticing is people who don't have the context of data modeling are now thinking that these DBT models are in fact data models. So they're data modeling, but they're doing it within the context of a DBT tool because they don't have a context or they're sort of mixing and matching terms.
