Robert Stroud was born in Seattle in 1890. His parents, Frank and Elizabeth, weren't married when Elizabeth became pregnant. The portrayal of the movie was so out of character that former inmates of Alcatraz thought Bert Lancaster should have apologized for portraying such a sinister character in a positive light.
