Sun Umbrella vs Sun Hoodie

The downside of a sunbrella is it can be kind of a pain in the ass to either you're affixing it to your pack and then the sun position is different especially when your southbound hiking. Hanging a trekking pole is a much more favorable arm position but the big pro is that there's a lot because the gap between your head and where the umbrella is is you're getting more airflow relative to a sun hoodie. Having the airflow and the shade cast a couple feet above you actually cools you much more at least that's true in my experience. I haven't run any sort of technical analysis with this but I certainly feel much cooler using a sun umbrella versus
