The Problem With the Putin System
There is a limit to which actually using television as an alternative can work. The final challenge with this sort of increasing monarchicalization is about the regularization of succession. In theory Putin could identify a political heir but he's clearly not willing to do that. So instead we have a constitutional situation in which he could stay in power until 2036 God help us all.
