The Reason for Having Children Has Changed Over the Years
I think if you look sort of broadly since in the last 50 years, actually the economic climate has improved. One of the reasons to have fewer kids is because fewer of them die in childhood. Once we start vaccinating people, which we're getting very good at, then you don't need as many kids to achieve the number you want to end up with. That's something called the demographic transition, which I think has sort of started happening basically everywhere. So I do think actually many, many, many places in the world, things are getting better, not worse.
