The Influence of Cognitive Task Analysis on Decision Making

The project that I got the most personal satisfaction from actually ended up yielding no publications. The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services was facing hefty fines for making errors in how they allocate food stamp benefits. So we did a cognitive task analysis working with expert caseworkers to people who decide who qualifies under the SNAP program. And what we found is that the cohorts of folks who went through the CTA based training had significantly lower incidences of errors.
