I think it's just, you know, up to you, grad school is hard. You certainly will hang out with people in your department because they're going to be the ones who are helping you and commiserating with you along the way. But I think that your life will be richer if you if you go outside a little bit. Caltech as a particular place is less amenable to that than most places. If you want to do it, you absolutely can.
