The waterline, obviously, for what's kind of viable in the consumer market continues to rise and streaming to me now is a must. And I would definitely reemphasize for anyone building language model products. When I was an intern at Google, they used to have this lambda chat bot for internally available. And they could have implemented it. They just did not. So we pushed the ER for streaming inference so that anybody else can also use it. The advantage of doing both open AI and like your own mouse is like sometimes you can do things that are useful for others and yourself.

We talked to Aravind Srinivas about competing with the tech giants, Perplexity's product philosophy and obsession with maximizing value delivered to the user per unit time, and the features that makes Perplexity unique.
