The History of the Habsburgs
The Habsburgs patronized composers from all over Europe, but most especially Venetians. And then in later years in the 1700s, also native Viennese composers such as Johann Schmelzer. Leopold's successor Charles VI tore down the old stone fort of the Habsburg and rebuilt it as a new palace to house his massive library. The palace also served as a stage for theater and ballet, which were art forms that spilled over from the royal court into other important cities like Prague and Bohemia.
