The Importance of Generic Programming in Java Programming
Go has always had generics in the standard library. There's also a really big power law effect at work here where like, everything was macros when Go first came out. When they didn't used to do that, people used to just write more straightforward programs. Programmers like to be clever. And when you have powerful features, people get clever. It's not because there isn't one. Everything in programming has a downside with no exceptions. I think it's entirely possible that five plus years from now, we'll see blog posts saying this wasn't a good idea.
