Jefferson hoped to get a lot of the trial that he didn't get out of the trial He could see early that Burr was going to be exonerated or at least let off by mid-summer His goal was actually to use the trial To get Americans to make a change in the Constitution That would end the lifetime Appointments for Supreme Court justices.
