The Soviet Union's Collectivization Process

Soviet leadership also set quotas for how much grain each community was expected to contribute. To come close to meeting them, farming families had to turn over grain that they would normally keep for their own food supply. In internal memos about this, there is an in tance that the failure to meet the quotas was the result of a coordinated programme of intentional sabotage and theft. So mass uprisings against collectivization involved everything from work stoppages to destructions of machinery as well as violent revolts.
