Can You Do No Expensive Research?

When people think about customer research, they think of these big, drawn out, expensive activiti like conducting some giant focus group behind a double mirror with a team of people watching. But it doesn't have to be like that, simply reading amazon reviews for competitive products, conducting a social media search around the problem we're trying to solve. These are activities that we could and should be doing as product people, not looking for magic answers on what product we should build but to understand the customer pain points more ly exactly.
