The Myth of the Hunting Culture
The most inclusive intuitions about a mythological order of the history of humankind that I have found anywhere are in the writings of Leo Frobenius. His great insight in relation to these two great culture fields was that the dominant pedagogical experience for the hunting people is the animals and the animal world. On the other hand, when you come to the people of the Equatorial Belt, the principal pedagogy experience is that of the plant world. Here, the dominant motif is death and resurrection, and it's in that sphere that human sacrifice predominates.
