The Solar Energy Cooperative on Tres

Island of Tres is one of the suniest places in Europe, but solar energy makes up just 1% of its electricity mix. The islanders want to build a citizen-owned 500kW solar power plant and have already raised 100,000 euro through crowd funding. Croatian enjoys 2700 hours of sun each year, but hydropera cannot keep up with demand - so they rely on imported coal, oil and gas instead.
