In a biblical society, the BBs form molecular connections. The more complex molecules form, the more structural rigidity there is that is able to resist the state. In modern status society, they want to encourage a radical individualism. And then they try to foment things like massive amounts of pornography and pot smoking. They pour grease into the oil into the BBs and make them even slipperier.
