In other forms of higher math, there can be different axioms where the rules of math aren't the same as basic arithmetic. The idea of these basic mathematical principles underrating everything is still very much charged and held in high esteem by many people. i think that it became like some kind of culture war type of thing where people were perceiving, like, animus on both sides towards Like, some kind of a sacred situation.
