When Berenay says that the AI system replicates the past, what she means is that it assumes, revives or maintains the assumptions of the past. And so I totally agree with what you're saying. There's a nice little quote here on page 10 of her paper where she quotes a guy named Glazersfeld. He says objectivity is a subject's delusion that observing can be done without him. Invoking objectivity is abrogating responsibility. Hence its popularity. In another sense, as she says somewhere else, she's like predictive systems make predictions, but they take no account of causal mechanisms. They don't have memory. These systems operate in a null time outside
