Saffron flowers are not pollinated by bees or other insects right? No. It doesn't seem like it, but bees do go in and they get covered in the pollen. This is just kind of laying the groundwork for why this is so expensive because the cultivation methods are very specialized. Why would you go through so much trouble to grow a flower? You grow through this much trouble because it has some really beneficial effects and it's culturally very important.
