In 1874, a French doctor performed a disturbing demonstration before the British Medical Association. One man who happened to be the president of the World College of Surgeons of Ireland was really angered by this. Most surgeons agree that Vivisection was maybe unpleasant, but necessary for the advancement of medicine. The turning point for the American animal rights movement was the Civil War.
