In the Hellenistic world and throughout Egypt and throughout Asia, there were these temples that they called mystery schools or mystery temples. We don't know the full details of what happened in them but we have the interesting example of what the people that came out of those experiences did. Michael: Pythagoras' biography makes him sound like he was utterly obsessed with being initiated into as many Mystery traditions as he could be.
