How to Buy a Declining Business and Flip It to New Markets

When I was in the radio business, we were buying up failing radio stations and then flipping them to new markets. We'd go into Houston and we buy a station that had a lot of gospel on it. This is a winning example of them. Here's what happened. When people start a business from scratch, what they're trying to do is essentially build an infrastructure. What you were buying wasn't necessarily the gospel station at all. You were buying the infrastructure. So better to buy into a business that's in an industry that's declined into a business where there's the motivated seller than something that looks clearly like it's a winner. Or at least in terms of value.
