Is There a History of Media Ecology in Europe?
The idea of media ecology is that different media environments engender different ways of thinking and interacting. It's meant to allow for what you'd call media determinism without being media deterministic. Media studies never even caught on really in Europe, in the same way as it did in North America. I think that Europe has rejected it because it feels like a reduction of human agency.
