The History of Border Crisis in the US

In 1852, Letter to the Editor published in the New York Tribune warned that the ratification of Sioux treaties in Minnesota would attract further immigration. The headline read a dumping ground for Europe's poppers. Partings of a quote unquote crisis relating to immigration in the US date back to at least the 1850s. In 1905, Philadelphia Inquirer wrote: European authorities are systematically making a convenient dumping ground of America for their popper and turbulent elements. Unquestionably a grave crisis is not far ahead of us unless some changes can be made.
