The Amazon Whole Foods Acquisition Story
Amazon laid off 5% of their corporate workforce and 1.2% of the overall 1.5 million employees as of September. When Amazon bought Whole Foods, 99% of the engineers did not pass the coding interviews for the levels that they were at at Whole Foods. So Amazon had to recreate an entire org structure to match. Basically a level three at Whole Foods was a level one in Amazon.
