Council Tax Is a Complex Issue, the Funding of Local Government
The work and pension secretary, Mel Stride, was asked about council tax figures. He said the maximum is 5% and many of them are going for 5%. But one has to bear in mind that at the current rate of inflation, that's a below inflationary increase. Mr Stride: We're doing all that we can from central government to try and keep those figures as well as possible. And it is worth saying that actually this year, and that they are putting more money into local government now.
