In the new testament church, it was very difficult to be a christian and to live as a christian faith. The reason is because jesus is the cosmic lord of all, even of institutions. And so christians ought to care about institutions not just so that they can somehow make their individual lives and their individual faiths a little easier with a little less heduin. It's much more far reaching.
