The European Reaction to Xi Jinping's Visit to Moscow
Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin signed a joint statement that all nuclear weapons states should refrain from deploying nuclear weapons outside their territories. As soon as Xi was on the plane back to Beijing, Putin announced Russian nuclear missiles were going to be stationed in Belarus. How is this playing in Beijing? Junghtau: It put China in a tricky position because China apparently was caught off guard by Putin's nuclear plan.
