All instruments are on the same sort of network, so if you adjust one brightness, they all adjust. You're always going to want it less bright than the instruments at the companion way. Another subtlety I would say is an autopilot control unit with a knob that changes the heading. A knob is very clearly one or two clicks left, one or two click right. That's nice. Then it's on everything, I've done a lot of sailing with like touchscreen chart plotters that's like outside in the weather in the cockpit and they never work if they get cold and wet.
