How Long Is Your Writing Class Period?

In a writing class, I'm envisioning 45 to 60 minutes. So during that independent time and there's, in my head, there are two 20 minutes solid blocks of independent writing time. You've got your seven to 10 minute full group lesson that everybody's listening to. And then you have the opportunity to teach kids as small groups or teach kids individually. In those 20 minutes one small group and one conference at least. If you can fit those in in those 20 minutes and you're doing a good job being efficient because after that 20 minutes, you'll do a quick interruption.
