Liberation: A Story of Hope and Courage
In 1971, inmates took control of the Attica Correctional Facility in western New York. Joe Mo Joka O'Mawala led a group of men who banded together to demand better treatment from guards. The standoff was seen as a tragedy of missed opportunities and racial animosity. But above all, it was a fight for justice that began in 1971 and still continues today 50 years later.
