We tend to think of the banks. We don't owe the banks. The banks are simply middlemen. They're like used car dealers. And even when you talk about people who have money, we're not necessarily talking about only the rich. It's retirees, middle class families who are saving for retirement. This gets loaned out. This is made available to people who need to borrow it. What you're really meaning is let's not pay back these people that we're counting on getting their money back.
