The West End

The west end was far o the only neighborhood in the united states that was destroyed in urban renewal projects in the 19 fifties. West enders were studied as a a kind of example for urban planning, but also in sociology, logy and a number of other like humanistic fields. One psychologist found that west enders experienced grief after being displaced, almost like there had been a death in the family. And some former residents grieved the loss of their home for years.
