The Age Appropriate Design Code
Last year in california We passed a major piece of legislation called the age appropriate design code Which actually holds platforms like instagram and snapchat and tick-tock etc Liable for the design flaws that will addict young people to the platform. The congress has been missing in action since mark juker jukerberg was in diapers They literally have not passed any regulatory structure for social media or the tech industry writ large Since the late 90s. So one issue is regulation, but the second thing is you really have to educate young people about all of this And so we have a program in 110,000 schools common sense of big organization about digital literacy and citizenship.
