The Transference of Power and Queerness
The first criminalization of homosexuality in the United Kingdom was when Henry VIII needed a moral and political pretext to grab land from the monasteries. The portrayal of indigenous and pre-colonial life worlds as being paradises of queer self-expression is actually something that enters into western discourse through primitivist white queer people, right? And so I think you see a lot of that primitivism kind of echoing in some of these conversations that happen now.
