The sell side was ascendant in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Back then information wasn't as easy to access as it is now. Stocks would go up literally 20% a day, 32% a day on an analyst like Jim Jung Jahan who covered companies that were building telecom fiber. It's the same people behave the same regardless. They want to believe what they want to believe. Without any understanding of what they truly own.
