I'm a Materialist Just Like You, O. Denison

i used to think like you do for year ers, i was a materialist just like you. But it didn't explain a whole bunch of things that are clearly very important in the world. So every time that you are taught a certain set of assumptions, and you don't quite know that there will be anomalies that those assumptions don't address. What i've come to is that materialism is perfectly fine. It's just like classical mechanics is perfectly fine but that doesn't explain everything either. I now see materialism as a subset of a more comprehensive understanding of reality. And that that expansion requires that something about consciousness be way more fundamental than it is perceived when it's only inside
