Sho Toku's Biography

Despite living in a somewhat fraught time politically, shotok's own biography is traditionally described as being mostly concerned with matters of peace and culture, not bloody politics. Most other details of the historical sho toku are enshrouded by centuries of legendary accretions to his biography that began to take shape almost as soon as he died. We really only have two sources sho toku himself that are at least likely to be contemporary to his own life.
