The Power of Connecting Stories
When you visit a few hundred communities or a few dozen communities, you come up with a bunch of stories and it's pretty easy to see these as disconnected narratives. We're trying to suggest that there are troubles and stoniness and forbiddingness and everything else that is part of the modern condition nationally and worldwide. But if people recognize how many others like themselves are wrestling with the same ideas and having some successes, then they can have an awareness of being not just on their own. That sense of satisfaction of agency and efficacy can spread beyond your own household, to thinking that the wind is at your back.
