Black Ornithology by Dr Edwards
In the united states as well there's a growing number of black ornithologists. For me that was just really important and during the pandemic where we had the black lives matter move in, i think reflections on history were sparked by that to renew ongoing conversations about race and ethnicity. The tensions between aristocratic nature of birding and science on the one hand and its democratization in the long term are some of the tensions that kind of animate the book throughout.
