The question is not whether music influences us, but why and how. At least some of our oldest literature was obviously oral for a long, long, long time before it was written down. Scientists have talked about the fact that animals don't have the spoken language that we do, but they essentially have music that serves as language. So it makes sense that music is a deep, deep, deep part of humanness and a part of human evolution and so on.
