i want to begin an analysis of the early legend of robin hood from the middle ages. i probably will get into some of these themes, and then cut it off and pick up the story then in the second lecture. The main unifying through line of them all is the character of robin Hood who is the architypa outlaw and a yeoman. It's clear that he is understood to kind of embody the persona of the outlaw. And there were many outlaws in mediaeval england. Many people took to the roads or the woods and took up a life of robbery and banditry.
