With the constitution in effect, elections for the inaugural government were held over the winter of 17 88 17 89. As i mentioned, one of the first orders of business for the new government would be to draw up a list of amendments that would satisfy all those calls for a bill of right. James madison himself introduced a list of 12 in august 17 89, ten of which would eventually be adopted. Accompanying this episode is a supplemental where i read the bill of rights in full. It encompasses just about everything i love about america. And for all our faults and all our mistakes, i believe the bill ofrights will stand to day and to morrow and forever as objectively
