The Role of Glucagon in Type One Diabetes

Glucagon is the hormone that's anti insulin in essence on the liver. It when glucagon goes up, the liver will cause a glycogen breakdown and maybe even gluconeogenesis. So if there are some points of the day when your insulin is too high, you could easily counter that if the pump gave you a little bit of glucagon, it would offset that. And so we've done some studies showing that that technically is very, very helpful for exercise. But you know, it's another hormone, there's going to be more cost, maybe a second pump.
